Austria’s Rattpack snaps up German corrugated packaging specialist dvb

BRUSSELS, July 9, 2013 (RISI) - Rattpack, a packaging group based in Austria, has strengthened its foothold in the corrugated packaging sector. The firm recently acquired a share in the German corrugated packaging specialist dvb Druck&Verpackungen Buch. The price tag of the deal was not disclosed.

Dvb specializes in litho-laminated corrugated packaging and POS displays. According to Rattpack, dvb will become the group's center of excellence for litho-laminated corrugated board, corrugated packaging and POS displays, complementing the existing food, pharma & cosmetics, industrial packaging and job printing branches.

Rattpack is one of Austria's leading manufacturers of cartonboard packaging. The group owns production facilities in Dornbirn and Vienna, both in Austria, Mindelheim, Buch and Apolda in Germany, as well as in Polvdiv, Bulgaria. It operates a total of eleven production lines that convert 40,000 tonnes/yr of cartonboard and corrugated board.

Rattpack produces, amongst others, 600 million packaging inserts per year and 1 billion folding boxes. The group generates annual sales of around Euro 62 million ($80 million) and has some 400 employees.
